Pollentia First Internship

At Pollentia, we’re not just building innovative electric boats; we’re committed to developing future leaders in the tech and marine industries. From March to June, we had the pleasure of hosting a talented group of nine students from Manhattan University for an internship program that covered software development, data science, and UI/UX design. This three-month experience not only provided valuable industry insights but also allowed us to welcome some of these incredible interns into the Pollentia team permanently.

The program was designed to give students hands-on experience with real projects, moving from foundational training to advanced tasks that challenged their skills. By the end of the internship, each intern had collaborated closely with our industry professionals, gaining practical knowledge and contributing meaningfully to ongoing projects. Their journey concluded with final presentations on June 4th, where they showcased their growth and hard work.

For some, it was just the beginning, as they accepted roles with Pollentia to continue driving innovation with us.

Meet Our Incredible Interns

Our interns—Aurora Shahu, John Pantusa, Kalden Dorji, Melvin Estudillo, Taii Simon-Brown, Thanh Nguyen, Justin Balbuena, Shirley Garcia, and Theodore Rice Jr.—brought varying levels of experience. Whether they were venturing into software development for the first time or honing their design skills, each intern tackled the challenge with dedication and enthusiasm, proving to be a valuable addition to the Pollentia family.

A Pathway to Growth and Success

Our goal was to offer a holistic experience that went beyond technical training, preparing our interns for the fast-paced and competitive workforce. Each intern received mentorship from a Pollentia team member, guiding them through project workflows, problem-solving, and professional communication. As they tackled real-world challenges, some discovered their place at Pollentia, making the decision to join our team.

We believe that learning and growth flourish in a supportive setting. Throughout the internship, we encouraged curiosity and exploration, with team members ready to provide guidance—whether troubleshooting code or refining design concepts. This collaborative environment allowed our interns to feel comfortable, take initiative, and ultimately contribute to Pollentia’s mission.
